Cuba Vacation Travel CARIBBEAN [Charity From The Mind]
It’s only 93 miles from Florida, and just 13 from the Bahamas, but like the smoke that coils from its legendary cigars, The Republic of Cuba exists in a time and space all its own.
Few cities can stir the imagination like Cuba’s capital, Havana, a city preserved by forts, a five-mile seawall, and an imposed embargo, which held back the excesses of the 20th century for over 50 years.

#OneAmazingMinute discovering Pure Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean, with Charitable Travel
Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique promise a feast for all the senses and visitors will soon discover why the uncrowded islands are renowned as ‘the Spice of the Caribbean’.
Resist the urge for a dip in the warm waters and a walk on the white sands of Grenada’s breath taking breaches - just for now - and head to Grand Etang National Park in the mountainous rainforest interior where brilliantly coloured exotic flowers catch the eye at every turn, including gingers, heliconias and orchids. It’s no wonder exhibits inspired by Grenada have claimed 15 Gold medals at the world’s greatest flower show, RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Havana’s lure can be hard to resist, but Cuba offers so much more beyond the seductive lights of its capital. In Cuba, a long sandy beach is never far away.
Just 12 miles from Havana’s downtown, the Eastern Beaches unroll toward the town of Matanzas, the birthplace of the rumba, and Cárdenas, where the Cuban Flag flew for the very first time. From here, follow the scent of fresh lime, rum and suntan lotion north to Varadero.
After exploring the northern coastline, turn south towards Cuba’s most revolutionary city, Santa Clara, and Trinidad, once the sugar capital of the world. Don’t miss elegant Cienfuegos, the only Cuban city founded by the French.
Sometimes it’s hard to know whether Cuba is awakening to the world, or if the world is awakening to Cuba. Whatever your politics, it's easy to admire this island nation that has proudly gone its own way.

Take lunch at the 300-year old Belmont Estate, a family-owned spice and cocoa producer - complete with its own chocolate factory: here, follow how cocoa goes from ‘tree to bar’. Grenada now boasts five such tree to bar chocolate makers, including one in capital St George’s called Tri-Island Chocolate where guests make their own chocolate bars.
River Antoine, which offers free tours and remains much as it was when it opened over 250 years ago, is the only waterwheel-powered rum distillery in the Caribbean. Take a guided tour and learn how local sugar cane and spring water are used to create a range of rums. ‘Rivers’ is potent stuff at over 79 per cent proof – so a taste is unforgettable!
Head back south to Grand Anse beach, the iconic two-mile arc of powder-white sand where several of the island’s resorts are situated and take a short boat ride to snorkel the world’s first Underwater Sculpture Park where over forty statues are swathed in flourishing coral.
Grand Anse is perhaps the best known beach in Grenada, but there are over 50 others. On the leeward side of the island, beaches are powder white and come with evocative names including Pink Gin beach and Magazine beach. On the eastern coast the sand is black. For truly splendid sunsets, seek out a spot on Morne Rouge beach, or sip a rum punch along Grand Anse. Levera beach on the northern tip of Grenada offers hatching turtles a home between May and September whilst nearby Bathway beach enjoys the drama of
Atlantic Ocean rollers thrashing the shore. Sister island Carriacou is home to several idyllic palm-fringed swathes of white sand, whilst Petite Martinique is a castaway paradise with a far-flung feel.
Dining out in Grenada brings so much choice, whether it be five-star cuisine at Rhodes’ or Oliver’s – located at two of the island’s five-star family-owned independent resorts - or local specialities at BB’s Crabback or Patrick’s, where dishes such as breadfruit salad and lambie (conch) are served tapas-style. Dodgy Dock Street Food Wednesday offers a lively vibe or kick back at West Indies Beer Company with island-brewed craft ales and live music.
Wherever the mood leads, toast Pure Grenada with a rum punch complete with freshly-grated island-grown nutmeg on top.
If this quick visit to Pure Grenada tempts you to visit please contact Charitable Travel to discuss your island escape in 2021.
Remember too every booking also means a FREE donation to your chosen charity.

______________
Johnny Depp's potential return to Pirates of the Caribbean remains up in the air. As it stands, it might still be too early to tell.
The biggest question on every fans mind regarding the next Pirates movie isn’t necessarily what the story will be – it’s whether or not Johnny Depp will come back. And the answer is that nobody knows at the moment. On the one hand, it would seem light a bit of a stretch for Depp to come back considering how poorly he was treated by the studio in the wake of what happened between him and his ex-wife, Amber Heard. However, since the truth about the controversy has been resolved and Depp’s reputation has been restored, loyal fans have been begging for Depp to return to the big-screen and give Jack Sparrow another go.
As for the studio’s opinion on Depp returning, Bruckheimer has insisted that he considers Depp a friend and that he would welcome him back into the franchise with open arms. “He’s a friend, a terrific actor.”
There was a Pirates movie in development for awhile unrelated to the previous ones that was set to star Margot Robbie as the protagonist, but this has since been canceled. Margot Robbie’s Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff was intended to be a female-led reboot set in the franchise’s universe. When Depp’s Jack Sparrow return chances improved, Robbie shared the news that the reboot was canceled.
Will & Elizabeth Turner might not have had the on-screen presence that Jack Sparrow had, but nevertheless they were key players in the original trilogy and (more importantly) had a story that was left open-ended with the conclusion of the last film. If a script for a sixth movie is truly ready, it would make plenty of sense for Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley to be the protagonists in Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
While there has been major doubt cast on Johnny Depp’s future with Pirates of the Caribbean, fans haven’t given up on seeing him again. One notable example of this comes from a Change.org petition to bring Depp back as Jack Sparrow that’s received over 800,000 signatures and is currently close to one million.
What's your thoughts on Pirates 6?
